Will I wake up? What happens during a General Anaesthetic?

There are some questions that are frightening for a child going to hospital to ask - but they're even more daunting for a parent or carer that may not have an answer.

Where are we going? Why do I need this? Will I feel anything? Will I wake up?

Life-changing charity, What? Why? Children in Hospital (WWCIH) was founded to show children and parents what actually happens in hospital, reducing anxiety, and helping families feel more prepared and in control.

This video demystifies the process of a General Anaesthetic, showing children and parents what happens when anaesthetic is administered either by mask, or cannula.

With 55 videos about hospital tests and treatments that are freely available on YouTube, WWCIH is making a huge difference to children undergoing procedures, and the videos have been viewed nearly 3 million times.

Raising awareness through their website, social media channels, and paper marketing materials, WWCIH strives to prepare every child for the hospital care they need. A small Scottish charity, WWCIH is run entirely by volunteers.
