We'll be there for you
Deaf Active seek to promote, support and advance the lives of Deaf children & Young People, Children of Deaf Adults and those disadvantaged children and young people living in and around the core services of the charity itself. Deaf Active work with local and regional partners to ensure Deaf people have access to and experience the same activities and opportunities as their hearing peers. Through the medium of reverse integration Deaf Active provide youth and play services, residential activities, youth exchanges, access to volunteering, training and employment opportunities in an environment and language appropriate to need. Deaf children and young people are both socially and culturally isolated, marginalised as a disability and are twice as likely to suffer from mental health problems compared to their hearing peers. 100% of Deaf Active's staff were past service users and 90% are profoundly Deaf native British Sign Language users who exist to provide a positive role model to children and young people as they journey through transitional periods providing support and guidance to the extended family unit and the wider community as a whole.
