We Can Fight (A Poem for Sentebale)
Sentebale supports children and young people affected by HIVin Lesotho and Botswana, countries with the second and third with the highestHIV prevalence rates in the world. Despite advancements in treatment and care,HIV remains one of the leading causes of death for young people in southernAfrica. Young people are lagging behind on multiple fronts – knowledge of HIV,testing, treatment and prevention. Stigma remains a major factor in preventingyouth knowing their HIV status, accessing lifesaving treatment and care.
Sentebale was founded in 2006 by The Duke of Sussex andPrince Seeiso. Today, Sentebale's network of Saturday clubs and five-day campshelps children and adolescents struggling to come to terms with their HIV byproviding a fun, friendly and safe environment for them to address their mentalhealth and wellbeing. In 2018, Sentebale reached over 4,600 children and youngpeople with HIV each month.
George the Poet is a London-born spoken word performer ofUgandan heritage and since 2015 a proud ambassador of Sentebale. His innovativebrand of musical poetry has won him critical acclaim and has seen his workbroadcast to billions of people worldwide.
