The Family Monsters Project
38 million people in the UK say they are affected by family pressures such as money, health, and spending quality time together – and 61% of them say they don’t know what to do about it.
To mark Family Action’s 150th anniversary we have started a national campaign – the Family Monsters Project, to encourage families to talk about their pressures with family, friends, professionals or organisations like Family Action. So they can find support to face their family monsters together.
Our film is an important part of the campaign, aiming to spread the message that talking about our challenges - our 'family monsters' - is the first step to getting help and managing them. Because if we don’t talk about our pressures, they can grow and grow.
The film has been viewed almost 38,000 times online and through social media and has been seen by millions of people in cinemas across the country. The film has received very positive feedback with many audiences visibly moved, some to tears. Many people can recognise their own family situations in the film and it has encouraged people to start difficult conversations and share their own family monsters.
