Supporting Young Carers
A free 20 minutes resource made by Community Advance Project in partnership with Family Action and Barnardo's for use by schools and other services working with young people to identify and support Young Carers.
Young Carers are some of the most vulnerable groups of people in society. Not only being responsible for caring for their family members, but also managing their own complex emotional and practical needs, often with little support. Which can lead to low self-esteem and isolation.
The DVD/video can be used by Young Carers to watch peers talking about how they cope with caring. Encourage Young Carers to look after their own mental wellbeing and seek the support they need from family and professionals. Schools, social services, health professionals and other service providers can use it to support Young Carers in a variety of ways. Specifically the video can be used as a resource by school staff to identify and support Young Carers.
