Solomon O.B - 25 Years of TACT Fostering & Adoption
Solomon O.B - 27 year old rapper, poet, National Grand Slam Poetry champion and care leaver, has spent the last three years as Ambassador for TACT (The Adolescent and Children’s Trust) performing for and listening to the charity’s children and young people in care and their foster carers. It has been a profound experience, both for him and the children, young people and adults he has met. And indeed, the staff. His commitment to raising awareness of the power of fostering, to inspiring young people in care to have aspirations, and promoting the work of TACT, has been tremendous. This video – Raising Celebration, is centred on a poem that Solomon has written specifically about his experiences and observations from the last three years, and also celebrates the fact that it is TACT’s 25th birthday.
Solomon O.B. is himself a former foster child, having been taken into care with his brother Sam and sister Anu when they were all very young. His poetry is inspired by his positive experiences of foster care. As our Ambassador, Solomon works with TACT to eradicate the stigma attached to being in care and to promote the nurturing, loving and stable reality that is foster care.
TACT is celebrating its silver anniversary as an independent fostering and adoption charity. For the last 25 years, we have successfully provided thousands of children and young people with loving, safe and stable foster and adoptive families, giving them the chance to lead happy, fulfilling lives, thus transforming their futures. We are super proud of Solomon’s ode to foster care and TACT, and we hope that it is well received by the judges.
