Solidarity Sports: Our First Disneyland Holiday in Memory of Firdaws Hashim
At Solidarity Sports we believe in the transformative power of play.
Through our work in West London, we’ve seen hundreds of children from disadvantaged backgrounds, or those that have experienced trauma, become a part of our family through our wide and varied activities. Our mantra is a simple one: 'every child deserves happiness', and we work tirelessly to achieve this. However, on June 14th2017, our Solidarity Sports family was torn apart when the catastrophic fire that engulfed the Grenfell Tower took the lives of three of our children and their parents – known as the Hashim Family.
In a bid, to bring something good from the tragedy, Solidarity Sports launched The Hashim Family Legacy, helping to make children’s dreams come true. Firdaws (12), dreamed of visiting Disneyland, and will now never have the chance, so in October 2017 we arranged our first trip as part of this project and visited Disneyland Paris in her honour.
Firdaws was a beautiful, energetic and bubbly young girl who could have achieved anything in her life. We will never give up on our children, not even Firdaws.
