Molly and Shauni's Story
LGBT Youth Scotland have been providing vital support to LGBTI young people around the country for decades but now, in our 30th anniversary year, a lack of funding jeopardises our ability to continue to deliver those services. In June this year, we launched our first ever public fundraising campaign: Youth Work Changes Lives.
A key element of our campaign had to be succinctly expressing the impact of our youth work services, so we wanted to spotlight the young people whose lives have been changed through engaging with us. We shot this video in-house as we wanted Molly and Shauni to feel at ease with the creative process and to trust the staff involved. This was their first on-camera interview: a fact one might not have noticed due to their eloquence. It was also a great opportunity to showcase our organisation’s work outside of the Scottish central belt, with the V&A Dundee taking pride of place in the video.
Reaching out to the public and sharing the immediacy of our need for funding has been new territory for us, but we have been blown away by the support we have received.
