Mal's Story

Today Mal scales the highest peaks in Wales, but 21 years ago his story was very different. Involved in a terrible work accident, it took Mal five years before he could walk even a couple of hundred metres. Now, thanks to the walking group he created, he has been able to heal some of his mental and physical scars. By sharing his story online, Mal reached out to other men who needed companionship and a place to talk, and who now walk with him along National Trust coastline on the Gower Peninsula. These walks have resulted in friendships forming, problems being shared, laughter enjoyed and comfort gained. Places which bring us together matter. With your help we’ll always look after them.
