Here I Am
Mencap are enormously proud to have been named the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon Charity of the Year.
This is an incredible opportunity to kick-start a movement of change and take a huge step towards greater inclusion for people with a learning disability, which remains one of the biggest battles they face.
Here I Am captures this movement, showcasing that people with learning disabilities have dreams and ambitions and want the same things in life.
We want every single person with a learning disability to feel valued. To feel part of society. To feel included.
It’s time to put learning disability on the world stage – Here I Am.
Charlotte, who has a learning disability, will be running the marathon.
“Just like you, I laugh, I cry, I love, I hurt. And just like you, I have hopes and dreams – like running the London Marathon. I also have a learning disability. But there is so much more to me than that. Get to know me and you might be surprised.”
The money raised from the marathon will fund ‘All Move’ – our fantastic new sports inclusion project which will bring together young people with and without a learning disability.
