Explaining my childhood cancer journey
Children with Cancer UK partnered with Beads of Courage UK in 2019. Our funding helps ensure special beads marking children’s cancer journeys are available to all young cancer patients being treated across the UK. We created a film to:
- Highlight the incredible work of both charities
- Demonstrate the significance of the beads to the brave children who receive them
- Inspire people to continue to raise funds and awareness for Children with Cancer UK and Beads of Courage UK
‘Explaining my childhood cancer journey’ tells the story of Ted, diagnosed with leukaemia at just six months old. Now in remission, Ted and his father share their experiences of the road to recovery and how the Beads of Courage helped Ted articulate his journey. A media sell in of the video and accompanying press release during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September generated 43 pieces of coverage and secured an online readership of 698m and 1.5k social shares. The video gained more than 6,000 views across our social media channels.
