Changing Lives through Football
In today’s society everybody should have a place to live. But – more young people across England and Wales are becoming homeless with the situation getting worse. It has become a major social crisis. 1 in 200 people in England are today now homeless or living in inadequate housing. Rough sleeping has risen by 169% since 2010. And in the last year, 320,000 people were recorded as homeless in Britain: equivalent to 36 new people becoming homeless every day. Young people with experiences of homelessness are one of the most vulnerable groups in our society. Which is why the Street Soccer Foundation exists.
This short video – ‘Changing Lives through Football’ – provides a brief insight into how we use football as a catalyst to improve the lives of vulnerable and homeless young people across the country. Our nationally acclaimed flagship program is our 'Street Soccer Academy' providing a 10-week learning and development course. Our objective is to instil greater confidence and self-belief in young people; improve their health and well-being; and empower participants to take positive action; all the while inspiring working professionals to learn and develop themselves too, through a unique mentoring opportunity provided.
Together, CHANGING LIVES THROUGH FOOTBALL.
