Cat Friendly Homing
Cat Friendly Homing (International Cat Care)
Founded in 1958, International Cat Care is a highly respected cat charity. We want all cats, whether owned and unowned, to be treated with care, compassion and understanding.
We are now aiming to help millions of unowned cats around the world.
Life can be tough for unowned cats, their short lives marked by suffering, disease, cruelty, accidents and inhumane forms of population control. In many places, lack of neutering leads to overflowing shelters.
People working at shelters told us that they want the cats in their care to be healthy, happy and rehomeable, but that the lack of reliable information and guidance is a real obstacle. They say the advice out there on cat welfare, health and behaviour is unclear, complicated, expensive or just non-existent. They asked for our help and so we launched Cat Friendly Homing to better help shelters working with cats around the world.
Cat Friendly Homing is raising £200K to:
- build a free website with practical advice tailored to shelters.
- develop affordable distance courses for shelter staff
- develop national and international collaborative networks including governments, local authorities, vets and welfare experts to find new ways to help unowned cats.
