Busting myths about children's hospices
As a hospice, we wanted to tackle the issue of myths around childrens’ hospices, the care provided and how they’re perceived. The reason for this being, we are aware from conversations with our children, young people, families and other healthcare professionals, there are still many myths surrounding hospices and in particular childrens’ hospices.
These myths can influence how families looking to access hospice care feel, how healthcare professionals feel about recommending hospices and also how supporters may perceive hospices – which is why it’s important to bust the myths – as one parent told us, “the hardest bit was walking through the door, because the word hospice means expecting my child is going to die” – and it’s those feelings which we wanted to help ease and reduce through this video.
Our film - Busting Myths About Childrens’ Hospices – produced in house, with no outside resources, shines a light on what children’s’ hospices are really like, breaking down misconceptions for families going through the most difficult of times, as well as supporters.
