Mummy's Star - Gift of Support
Mummy's Star wanted to reach out to show the reality of what some of our mums go through having cancer at Christmas and highlight that for some of our families Christmas can also include dealing with a cancer diagnosis, hospital visits and chemotherapy. Many of our mums feel alone and isolated. Some worry this might be their last Christmas with loved ones, whilst others may celebrate having another year together.
Being in hospital for treatment in the build up to the festive season is a hard time of year not to be around your family. Mummy's Star wanted to increase awareness of cancer and pregnancy and raise funds to provide some more vital home visits to mums who are living with cancer at Christmas and need our support. For our mums, the festive demands are the same, Christmas doesn't stop for cancer. A home visit costs around £100. We wanted to be able to visit more of the mums who contact us during the festive period. Meeting a mum ensures that we can get to know them and their families, understand their situation better and it also allows us to tailor the support to meet the needs of each mum.
